IT Certification Verification

How to Verify an Oracle Certification

Oracle certifications span database administration, Java development, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise applications like NetSuite. All can be verified through Oracle's centralized CertView portal — here's how.

Quick answer

Ask the candidate to share their Oracle CertView profile. Oracle's official verification portal is certview.oracle.com — candidates can log in and share a public verification link. Employers can also search by name and email through the verification tool. There is no third-party database: CertView is the authoritative source for all Oracle credentials.

Oracle certification tracks

Oracle organizes certifications across several major technology areas:

Track Common Credentials
Database Oracle Database SQL, OCA, OCP, OCM (Database Administrator)
Java Oracle Certified Associate Java SE, Oracle Certified Professional Java SE
Cloud (OCI) OCI Foundations Associate, OCI Architect Associate/Professional, OCI Developer
Middleware / Fusion Oracle WebLogic, Oracle Fusion Applications (ERP, HCM, SCM)
NetSuite NetSuite SuiteFoundation, Administrator, ERP Consultant, SuiteCloud Developer
MySQL MySQL 8.0 Database Administrator, MySQL Developer

Oracle's certification hierarchy uses OCA (Oracle Certified Associate), OCP (Oracle Certified Professional), and OCM (Oracle Certified Master) for database credentials. Cloud and application certifications use different naming conventions but all appear in CertView.

Verifying via CertView

CertView (certview.oracle.com) is Oracle's official certification management and verification platform. Every Oracle certification earned after 2012 is recorded here. Older credentials from the Sun Microsystems era (Java, Solaris) are also migrated into CertView.

Candidate-initiated sharing

The easiest verification method is asking the candidate to share their CertView profile directly:

  1. Candidate logs in at certview.oracle.com
  2. Navigates to their certification transcript or profile
  3. Generates a shareable verification link
  4. Provides the link to you — opens publicly without Oracle login required

The shared transcript shows each certification, the credential level (Associate, Professional, Master), and the date earned. Some credentials also display an expiration date or version number.

Employer-initiated lookup

For employer-initiated verification without a shared link:

  1. Go to certview.oracle.com
  2. Select the certification verification option (may require creating a free Oracle account)
  3. Enter the candidate's name and email address registered with Oracle
  4. Review the credentials returned — active certifications will be listed

Credly badges for Oracle credentials

Oracle issues digital badges through Credly for many of its credentials, particularly OCI and newer certifications. A candidate may share a Credly badge link (credly.com/badges/...) as supplementary verification.

Credly badges are supplementary, not authoritative

Credly badges are issued by Oracle and are legitimate, but CertView remains the authoritative source. For a Credly badge, verify that the issuing organization shown is “Oracle” and that the credential name matches what was claimed. Do not accept third-party-issued or self-created digital badges as verification.

Oracle certification currency and retirement

Oracle periodically retires older certification versions as products update. Key considerations:

  • Oracle Database certifications are version-specific (e.g., 12c, 19c, 21c) — an OCP for 12c does not automatically certify proficiency in 19c
  • Java SE certifications track Java versions — OCP Java SE 8 and OCP Java SE 17 are distinct credentials
  • OCI certifications have an annual renewal requirement — credentials expire after one year if not renewed
  • NetSuite certifications expire annually and require renewal through retesting or NetSuite-specific continuing education

For roles requiring current product expertise, check that the credential version aligns with the version in use in your environment.

Red flags

  • Candidate cannot log in to CertView or provide a shareable verification link
  • CertView shows certifications that have expired or are listed under a retired exam version incompatible with the claimed credential
  • Claimed OCM (Oracle Certified Master for Database) — this is one of Oracle's most rigorous credentials; very few hold it. Verify carefully.
  • Credential name on resume does not match Oracle's official naming (e.g., “Oracle DBA Certified” is not an official credential name)
  • OCI credentials without a recent renewal date — these expire annually
  • NetSuite certifications with an issue date more than a year ago and no renewal visible

Verification checklist

  • 1. Request the candidate's CertView shareable transcript link or look up via certview.oracle.com
  • 2. Confirm the certification name and level (Associate, Professional, Master) match the resume claim
  • 3. Check the product version or release year — confirm it aligns with your environment
  • 4. For OCI and NetSuite: verify the renewal date is within the past year
  • 5. If a Credly badge is provided, confirm it was issued by Oracle and matches the CertView record

Verify the school behind the IT degree

Oracle professionals often hold degrees in computer science, information systems, or business. Use VerifyED to confirm whether a claimed university is properly accredited and not a diploma mill.
